Alan Sherer, LCSW (Lic. # LCS 7656)
A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) since 1979, Alan Sherer serves as trainer and consultant to local industries, small businesses and school districts. He is the co-founder and former executive director of Triad Community Services, a non-profit counseling agency specializing in outpatient mental health and chemical dependency treatment. Under Sherer’s direction, the agency won and maintained numerous contracts with government and private sector organizations.
Alan is also a board-certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (1988), and a Qualified Clinical Social Worker (N.A.S.W., 1991). Certified in “Positive Parenting” instruction, Sherer has taught courses such as “Preparing for Drug-Free Years” and “Parenting Through the Teen Years.”
Alan is also experienced in leading men’s groups and father’s groups. He offered the very first father’s group in Santa Cruz County 28 years ago, and is a father of three grown children.
Currently, Sherer maintains a private psychotherapy practice, and provides training and workshops, including “The Dope Show”, “Risky Business”, and “The Breakfast Club”.
