Cynthia Phinn
Cynthia Phinn received her Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz. She began learning American Sign Language as a hobby over 13 years ago taking classes at Cabrillo then going on to take advanced ASL classes at San Jose City and Ohlone Colleges. That hobby turned into a passion as she immersed herself into the Deaf Community. She went on to work as an interpreter at a camp for Deaf Children and for the Santa Cruz County Schools as a one on one aid for a young deaf boy. While at the camp she also taught horsemanship and horseback riding to the children. As the birth of her first grandchild approached Cynthia became very interested in baby sign language. Understanding all the benefits that it can provide a new parent she wanted to share this information with others and she became a baby sign language instructor for Touch Blue Sky’s Santa Cruz area.
